About
North Thompson Stock dog association
The North Thompson Stock Dog Association (NTSDA) is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to promoting the value, skill, and versatility of working stock dogs. Founded during the COVID-19 pandemic, the NTSDA was created to raise public awareness about the critical role these highly trained dogs play in ranching, farming, and livestock management across rural communities.
Since hosting its first cattle dog trial in British Columbia in 2022, the NTSDA has experienced remarkable growth. What began as a single event has expanded into a thriving series of competitions, with ten trials held across BC in 2025. The sport of cattle dog trialing continues to gain momentum, attracting competitors and spectators from across the region and beyond.
Dogs With Jobs: Celebrating Working Dogs
The NTSDA proudly hosts its annual Dogs With Jobs event, a dynamic and educational showcase highlighting the incredible abilities of working dogs. While stock dogs remain at the heart of what we do, this event celebrates the full spectrum of canine talent across multiple disciplines.
Attendees can experience a wide range of activities and demonstrations, including:
- Cattle dog trials
- Sheepdog clinics
- Search and rescue demonstrations
- Detection dog showcases
- Obedience training
- Agility performances
- Hunting and bird dog demonstrations
This engaging event is designed to educate the public and demonstrate the diverse skills, intelligence, and value of working dogs in both rural and urban environments.
